History of Bed Brigade
A young boy in Circleville, Ohio, had no bed and was sleeping on the floor. Tracy VanHorn, a social worker in Circleville, learned of his situation and shared it with her husband, Pastor Ron VanHorn of the Vineyard Church in Circleville.
Ron, a man of God, a skilled designer and craftsman, was moved to help. He built a bed for the boy and delivered it with a simple but powerful message: he wanted the boy to know how deeply God loved him. The boy was overjoyed.
Sometime later, the boy’s family had to move. Because the bed could not be taken apart, it was left behind. The thought of the boy once again sleeping without a bed weighed heavily on Pastor Ron’s heart. Determined to prevent this from happening again, Ron designed a bed that could be easily assembled and disassembled.
Word spread quickly, and soon other children who were without a bed, also requested beds. What began with one boy in need grew into a ministry. The Bed Brigade was formed in 2008 in Circleville, Ohio.
Since then, God has continued to grow this ministry, with new chapters opening across Ohio, bringing the gift of rest—and the message of God’s love—to countless children. We are looking forward to God starting chapters across the nation so that every child has hope and a good night’s sleep.
